Conor McGregor and his fiancée, Dee Devlin, are set to get married in the Vatican.

The former UFC fighter, 37, proposed to Ms Devlin in 2020, after they began seeing each other in 2008.

It’s been reported that the couple will finally tie the knot in the Vatican on Friday (December 12) at the Chiesa di Santo Stefano Degli Abissini, just behind St Peter’s Basilica.

The Irish Independent reports that various sources inside the Vatican have confirmed that the couple will wed in the church, despite Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni saying that they were unaware of any weddings occurring this week.

It has also been reported by the Independent that senior Vatican figures privately expressed their concern over hosting the wedding, due to McGregor’s various controversies and convictions.

McGregor first met Ms Devlin in 2008, with her by his side as he rose through the ranks of the UFC and became the first-ever fighter to hold two simultaneous championships in 2015 and 2016.

Ms Devlin shares four children with McGregor, the first of whom was born in 2017.

Ms Devlin also defended McGregor after he was found liable in civil court to have raped Nikita Hand in 2018. McGregor has been ordered to pay €250,000 in damages for Ms Hand, as well as her legal fees, which are set to cost an estimated €1.5million.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court rejected McGregor’s appeal against the ruling made against him, saying that they found he had a fair trial and refused any further appeal. His co-accused was found not liable for sexually assaulting Ms Hand.

McGregor recently revealed that he was ‘born again’ following an intense ibogaine treatment in Mexico, taking the hallucinogen to ‘address trauma.’

During the treatment, McGregor said that he ‘saw God’ and Jesus Christ, who ‘walked down the marble steps of Heaven’ and put a crown on his head.

‘I was blessed to meet the most forward-thinking doctors from Stanford University and undergo a series of treatments to address trauma,’ McGregor wrote in his return to social media.

‘I travelled to Tijuana Mexico and underwent Ibogaine treatment at AMBIO. Watch the @netflix documentary just released titled “In Waves and War” as it is the exact place I went. It was incredible, intense, and absolutely eye opening. I was shown what would have been my death. How soon it was to be, and how it would have impacted my children.

‘I was looking down on myself as it happened, and then I was looking out from the coffin. God then came to me in the Holy Trinity. He is MIGHTY! Jesus, his child. Mary, his Mother. The Archangels. All present in heaven. I was shown the light,’ he wrote.

‘Jesus descended from the white marble steps of heaven and anointed me with a crown,’ he added, before saying that he was ‘healed,’ ‘saved’ and that he was ‘me again.’

‘Thank you for all your inspiration, motivation, encouragement, well wishes, support, and most importantly, for your prayers!’
